I like “chadson.” My alma mater (Virginia Tech) rejected my outstanding son, so he will attend the University of Kentucky. My thoughts are mixed. They were horrendous during the pandemic, forcing unvaxed kids to test weekly & isolating kids for less than a cold. Our “tour guide” was a man wearing fishnets and pumps. I hope Riley Gaines will return to talk some sense into the young women on campus (the young males in Kentucky are mostly based). Blessings to you and your family.

Like much in life, I didn't realize what a blessing having a teen driver in the house would be, until I had a teen driver in the house.

That's very exciting news re: Lost Riviera and the Saint Genesius Fellowship. Thank you for the time and effort you are putting into actually doing something to restore real American culture. Maybe I'll sharpen that pen, after all...

I know we all dreeem of our progeny "going to college" and having a great career, etc. But plumbers/electricians usually make more money. Not into invisible-voodoo (elec), poowasser (plumb), etc. OK, let 'em be a carpenter.

Hey Peachy - I read your piece in American Mind yesterday (via RCP). Great article - and absolutely spot on! I only forwarded the link to around 30 of my friends (a number of whom are either trad-Dems - or never-Trumpers). You do a better job of laying out the clear choice in November better than anyone I've read this year. Keep up the good fight!

That article for The American Mind is top shelf from the top rope! Seems like a smart candidate running against the extremists would simply compile a series of videos of the extemists’ greatest hits as their campaign commercial. Let them continue to tell us who they really are.

Would love to hear more about the “list” of other great colleges your chadson applied to! Did the family work together to compile with him? What was his thought process? We have a few years before we are there but I know time flies!

I've been contending for well over a decade now that responsible, loving parents should not allow their children attend university. I know, sadly satisfactory apprenticeship programs are not offered in many fields such as medicine and engineering but still...

Teen drivers, offspring chauffeuring etc., etc. sage comfort and advice I delight in passing along to younger, less experienced parents such as yourself Peachy: The first fifty seven years of raising your offspring is the hardest, it gets easier after that.

For your consideration: https://belmontabbeycollege.edu/

A small college in NC run by the O.S.B (no S.J. allowed!) I went there and 3 of us in my class (1 biology major and 2 chemistry majors (2/3 from VA and 1 from FL)) were accepted to the Medical College of VA. It was and is a wonderful school.

Love the book. I read it last summer and I’ll probably read it again this summer…I need a little bit of a kick in the ass to get me out of the school year malaise.

Our oldest was a reluctant driver, and I am kicking myself for not getting her permit before March 2020 when she was eligible the previous December, because all those empty roads would have been great to learn on! But, alas, I had just had a baby and could only focus on one thing at a time. The permit would have to wait another year, and by then driving had become a mental "thing". (Probably exacerbated by the general neurosis in the air at the time, but I digress...) The second child got licensed before the first child, and finally was able to take himself to school and practice. That was super nice! We are on the 3rd child now learning. If we get our act together he can do the school driving next year. Fingers crossed! I imagine having a reliable teen driver is similar to when you finally don't have to pay for babysitters anymore... SO liberating!!!
