Maybe Taylor and Lana need to be mentored by Dolly. Still writing heartbreak songs and churning out hits, even while married.

Married, but childless.

True. Maybe Celine would be a better choice.

And pitching vaccines to the tune of one of her hit songs, too...

The old saying rings true: the common element in all your disappointing, failed and toxic relationships is you.

I don't think I have ever heard a song by Taylor Swift and I had never heard of Lana Del Rey.

But I read your piece, Peachy.

Maybe they are both like Judy Garland and Michael Jackson, who seemed to have no real identity or soul when they weren't in front of a vast audience of fans.

But that's none of my business.

I have made the same observation of Garland and Jackson.

“Travis Kelce literally holds the fate of the country in his football jock strap. Stay hydrated, bro.” --had me howling. Please someone send that to him. 😂

I am a boomer never interested in pop music, Beethoven not the Beatles Schumann not the Stones was my music of choice BUT an icon of my drug using contemporaries was and probably IS Steve Nicks. She basically spread her legs for all the greatest guitarists and percussionists of the legendary Hall of Fame rockers. Alone at 77 she’s touring now and can’t really move around on stage anymore. Her greatest love according to HER was a very unattractive now Joe Walsh. Like Don Henley, who she ALSO spent special time with while high on cocaine, he has a trophy wife of decades. When asked 10 years in an interview if she was the love of HIS life he acted like he barely remembered her. The future of Taylor Swift

Tays bff Blake Lively is a good role model. Appears to have a great marriage and domestic bliss with three kids. Crazy to think how many girls would get married if Tay does it.

This was fun to read. Welcome to the stack, I look forward to your next post.

I think those responsible for the promotion of music and other fine arts always favor some over others regardless of equal quality or talent. Luck also plays a big part in who gets rich and who doesn't. The bonus of looks or a spicy personal life add the necessary flavor non-objective patrons crave. I separate the person from the product because, in the end, the person will be gone but a quality product will endure.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist but my gut says, right now, Taylor is potentially an operative for the cabal--she's been very vocal about her distain for the orange man and her hunky sports guy has an ad campaign for fall vaccinations. In our upside down world right now, anything's possible.

I kinda wanna Bud Light TS. She just showed her political leanings and I won’t support her anymore. She’s sold her soul!! I just don’t know who bought it and for how much.

I feel bad for TS and LDR, narcissism does not mix well with all the soy boys out there. The search for perfection is an impossible task.

What we really need is for Taylor Swift to collaborate with Grimes.

Jumping from one bad relationship to another while you mine your wounded emotions for insanely popular song ideas sounds like a curse. Who would want that, even for an enemy? There's a reason we move on from immaturity. It sucks to be in pain -- and causing pain! -- all the time. Grow up.

Superb article ...

Swift is prolific as a songwriter, her lyrics come easy for her, and so too the bridges ...

Del Rey is in a league of her own though, her lyrics come in from a myriad unexpected angles, her songs are Timeless, they could have come from just about any decade of the last century ...

Success and fame came early for Swift ...

Del Rey was too far ahead of her time, but she had the courage and belief to persist until one day the world realised her magnificence ...

Swift is commercially more successful, Del Rey will probably transcend the current generations and will be revered by the Future ...

Swift is the ripples, the X axis of the musical Cartesian plane that Del Rey is the Y, the waves, soaring higher and higher, deeper and deeper …
